The Brewers clinched a winning record with a 5-3 win over the Padres last night at Miller Park.  Carlos Gomez, Rickie Weeks, and Jonathan Lucroy all went deep as Milwaukee picked up win #82 on the season. Shaun Marcum gave up 2 runs in six innings of work to pick up the win. John Axford struck out 3 in the 9th for his 34th save of the season.  Tyler Thornburg gets the start tonight for Milwaukee in Game 2 of the series.  Coverage begins at 6:35pm on KFIZ.

The playoff race is coming together.  Washington clinched the National League East on Monday night.  The Detroit Tigers also clinched the AL Central and the Oakland A’s also clinched a playoff spot.  With the Yankees beating Boston and the Orioles losing to Tampa Bay, the Yanks have a one game lead over Baltimore with 2 games to play.  Oakland trails Texas by one game in the AL West race.  St. Louis holds a two game lead over the Dodgers for the final NL Wild Card spot with 2 games to play. 

Tony Romo threw five interceptions, 2 of them returned for TDs as Chicago routed the Dallas Cowboys 34-18 on Monday Night Football.  Jay Cutler threw a pair of TD passes in the win.  Chicago is 3-1 on the season.  The Cowboys are 2-2.

The Packers may shut down WR Greg Jennings for this weekend’s game at Indy with a groin injury.  The Packers WR left Sunday’s win over the Saints when he aggravated the injury that gave him trouble during training camp and into the first part of the regular season. 

Despite the Jets struggles, head coach Rex Ryan says that Mark Sanchez will still be his starter and Tim Tebow will remain on the bench.

The Indianapolis Colts are getting ready for their matchup with the Packers on Sunday without their head coach.  Chuck Pagano was diagnosed with a treatable form of Leukemia.  He’ll be gone until at least November for treatment.  Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians will take over as interim head coach. 

The Bucks held media day on Monday and will practice for the first time today.  Luc Richard Mbah a Moute will miss all of camp as he recovers from offseason knee surgery.

Waupun’s Claire Hoekstra beat the #3 and #2 seeds at the Girls Tennis Subsectional at Watertown Luther Prep on Monday’s Division 2, Flight 4 event. The Sectional is Wednesday at Whitewater.

The Marian University women’s golf team improved each round of the 2012 Northern Athletics Conference Championship and placed fourth out of 10 teams, while Marian sophomore Angela Krueger placed fifth individually to earn All-Conference honors following the final round of play at The Ridges at Sand Creek, this afternoon, Oct. 1.
