Lomira & Oakfield Softball Teams Qualify for State Tournament
WIAA Softball – Sectional Finals:
Division 3:
Lomira 6, Chilton 4
–Lomira scored four runs in the second inning to take an early lead, then held off a late-inning rally by Chilton to win the Sectional Championship. Julia Sitzberger and Tenley Gassner each had a pair of hits and drove in two runs apiece for the Lions in the win. Gassner struck out nine batters in the pitchers circle for Lomira – which advances to the State Tournament for just the second time in school history. L
Lomira will play in the D-3 semifinals, which are scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. Game time and opponent will be determined Thursday.
Division 5:
Oakfield 7, Barneveld 5
–The Oaks win the Sectional Championship and advance to the State Tournament for the first time since 2018. Oakfield will compete in the D-5 semifinals Monday morning – game time and opponent will be determined Thursday.
