Lori Burgess Named Woman Manager Of The Year

The Fond du Lac chapter of Women in Management proudly announces that one of its members, Lori Burgess, has been named the Fond du Lac area 2014 Woman Manager of the Year.  Employed with the Fond du Lac Public Library since 2005,  Burgess is the Support Services Coordinator in charge of circulation and technical services.  An integral part of the management team, she is responsible for directing the work of 28 library employees and managing a budget of $300,000 allocated for library books and materials.

Burgess also oversees the library’s Express Branches at St. Agnes Hospital and at 1125 East Johnson Street, along with the planning and implementation of library programs including Crafternoons, National Library Week, Money Smart Week, and Fond du Lac Reads among many other Library sponsored events.

On March 1, 2013 Burgess was the first librarian to receive the Governor’s Council on Financial Literacy Award from Governor Scott Walker for her continued commitment to and enthusiasm for financial literacy.  Her local leadership with Money Smart Week has impacted thousands of citizens in Fond du Lac and ultimately throughout the nation.

Commenting on her award Burgess says, “I am honored to have received this award and proud to work for the Fond du Lac Public Library.  I have a great staff and supervisor.  The support and encouragement they provide allows me to do my job well.”

Dorothy Bliskey, Women in Managements 2014 president says, “We are proud to award this honor to one of our members.  Lori is a wonderful example of the women who make our organization what it is. Her leadership is an asset to our community.”
