Lottery Officials, Ripon Woman Happy About Instant Millionaire Win

They probably aren’t as happy as Mary Ann Walterberry of Ripon, but state lottery officials are pleased to have their first winner in the instant millionaire scratch off game. Lottery Director Mike Edmonds says Mary Ann found out right away she was a winner when she purchased the ticket last Sunday and scratched it off at Ultimart Citgo West in Ripon. Thursday Edmonds presented Mary Ann with a ceremonial big check representing her winnings at the store. He says it’s a nice way to supplement her retirement; she’s a retired certified nursing assistant. There are three remaining $1 million winners among the 600,000 tickets the lottery had printed up for the game. The tickets cost $30 each. After taxes Mary Ann’s winnings will come to more than $673,500. Wisconsin lottery photo of Lottery Director Mike Edmonds and winner Mary Ann Walterberry.
