Man Accused of Attacking Officers Sees Several Charges, Large Cash Bond

A Portage man accused of seriously injuring two law enforcement officers as they tried to arrest him – is facing a handful of new charges. 32-year old Troy Kratz is being held on $100,000 cash bond for fifteen counts, including charges for battery to a law enforcement officer, strangulation, substantial battery and substantial bodily harm. 

A sheriff’s deputy suffered a deep head laceration and several other injuries – while a city officer suffered a broken elbow and a possible concussion in the fight. The officers were moving to arrest Kratz after he allegedly attacked another man earlier in the night. 

He was also wanted on outstanding warrants from other counties – and has previous convictions for aggravated and substantial battery. Drug paraphernalia was also found inside his vehicle. 

Kratz is set to return to court on August 16th
