Man Rescued from Silo in the Town of Calumet

A
27 year old man was rescued from a silo after he fell in on a farm in the Town
of Calumet Monday
evening. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department along with Town of Calumet Fire Department were called at 6:17 pm to S&S
Dairy at N10380 Schoenborn Road
in the Town of Calumet
for a report of a man who had fallen around 24 feet into a 74-foot high silo that
contained corn silage. Authorities say the man, identified as Joshua Sabel,
climbed into the silo to close a door and as he was climbing across the silo
unloader, one of the three cables holding up the unloader broke. Sabel was able
to grab onto a cable and pull himself onto a ledge in the silo where he called
for help. The City of Fond du Lac
Fire Department’s Technical Rescue Team was able to successfully remove Sabel
from the Silo. He was not injured in the fall. No firefighters were injured in
the rescue. Mount
Calvary
Ambulance and
Town of Calumet First Responders also assisted at the scene.
