Man Unknowingly Offers Marijuana to Waupun Police Chief

A Mayville man is in custody after trying to smoke marijuana with the wrong people at a Waupun golf course over the weekend. Waupun Police Chief Scott Louden was part of two foursomes that had just wrapped up their day on the course when the man walked over and asked if they wanted to smoke. After one of the players told the man he was talking to the wrong group, he decided to pull a bag of pot out of his pocket. Louden then identified himself and told the man he was being detained. The man at first thought it was a joke, then started running away. He later decided to return and wait for officers to arrive. The man was cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
