Manitowoc Woman Pleads “Not Guilty” in Child Death

A woman charged in connection with a child’s death in Manitowoc says she’s “Not
Guilty”. Jamie Schrank entered the plea on Wednesday to a count of Physical
Abuse of a Child-Repeated Acts Causing Death.

Schrank and Eduardo Gamez are
accused of causing internal and external injuries that led to the death of a
three-year old boy they were caring for back in July.

An autopsy shows the
cause of death as blunt force injuries to the abdomen, but it’s unclear how the
injuries occurred. The two also told police they had been smoking meth while
the three-year old and their five-year old son were in the house.

Gamez is set
to return to court next week.
