Marian Students Participate In Model UN Conference

The Marian University Model United Nations team traveled to the Northwest Model United Nations Conference in Seattle, Wash., from November 18-20. Seventeen Marian University students competed with students from other universities across the country.

Marian University represented the countries of Turkey, Mali, Trinidad and Tobago, DPR Korea and Argentina.  As diplomats, the students collaborated with other represented countries seeking ways to address global issues such as international cooperation against terrorism, empowering women and girls in development, migration as it relates to peacekeeping, and the importance of education. At the close of the conference, Brandon Krawczyk of Muskego was presented with the Outstanding Position Paper Award and Austin Kultgen of Glenbeulah was presented with the Distinguished Delegate Award while representing Turkey on the World Humanitarian Summit Committee.

Faculty advisor for the Model UN program is Elizabeth Manser Payne, assistant professor in the School of Business at Marian University, with assistance by Miranda TerBeest, major gifts officer at Marian University.
