Marian University To Host Bullying Prevention Workshop

Marian University will be hosting a bully prevention workshop, “The Three B’s: Bullies, Bullied and Bystanders” on Friday, August 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Stayer Center Dining Room. The workshop will feature keynote speaker Amelio A. D’Onofrio, Ph.D.

The workshop is designed to help educators, mental health professionals and parents – or anyone working with youth or others who are prone to bullying or being bullied – better understand the complex dynamics of bullying, the role we all may play in those complex dynamics and what we can do to bring about change. In addition, participants will formulate realistic strategies for helping to bring about change and end the cycle of violence and bullying.

Keynote speaker Amelio D’Onofrio, Ph.D. is a clinical professor and director of the Psychological Services Institute in the Graduate School of Education at Fordham University. Dr. D’Onofrio holds degrees from Georgetown University, the University of Chicago and Fordham University. Dr. D’Onofrio is also founder of the Institute for Psychoanalytic-Existential Psychotherapy where he trains post-doctoral level clinicians. He is author of “Adolescent self-injury: A comprehensive guide for counselors and health care professionals.”

The workshop is available for $30, and can be taken for 1 credit for an additional fee. Participants should register for the workshop by Friday, August 23.
