Marian’s Student Nurse Association Spreads Christmas Cheer For Kids

Recognizing the difficulty that comes with being hospitalized during the holiday season, the 19th annual Marian University Student Nurse Association (MUSNA) Presents for Pediatrics campaign recently presented children in Wisconsin hospitals with gifts to brighten their spirits and help reduce parental stress.

Each December, MUSNA collects gifts and delivers them to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and Neenah. The gifts, either donated or purchased through monetary donations, were given to the hospitals’ pediatric units. Various businesses throughout Fond du Lac and the Fox Valley contributed money for the project.

“I’ve personally seen the smile these gifts can bring to the faces of the children who are hospitalized, and it’s truly heartwarming,” said Breana Sutfin, Assistant Professor and MUSNA co-advisor. “I can’t commend everyone involved enough for putting all their hard work into making this happen.”

The Presents for Pediatrics project focuses on children who are suffering from an acute or chronic illness during the holidays. The project seeks to be a positive distraction from hospital life for patients and their families.

“The students did a great job of making this another successful year of Presents for Pediatrics while sharing love and joy,” said Melissa Zar, Assistant Professor and MUSNA co-advisor. “It’s such a rewarding experience and I’m glad we all got to experience the positive impact this project has.”
