Mark Harris On His Run For The 6th Congressional District Seat

Winnebago County Executive Mark Harris says
concern about the national debt and money taken from the social security trust
fund may have been the initial spark for running for federal office. He’s
running for the 6th Congressional District seat. The Democrat from Oshkosh says next Monday he will submit his 10th balanced
budget for Winnebago County and over his years as County Executive
the County’s debt has been reduced by 30 percent. He says that is in stark
contrast with what’s happened in state government during his opponent State
Senator Glenn Grothman’s time in the state legislature. Harris says one concern
he shares with retiring Congressman Tom Petri is about how to sustain funding
for federal highway trust fund. He’d also like to see the minimum wage raised
and indexed, which he says would also cut back on social programs those on
minimum wage need to make a living.
