Markesan Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash Identified

A 29-year-old man from Markesan was killed in a one-vehicle
crash in Green Lake County Saturday night. Green Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies
were called to the scene of the crash on County Highway K west of Lakeview Road
in the Town of Green Lake around 9 am Sunday.

Investigators say Kevin K. Steinmetz was driving west on County K at a
high rate of speed when his vehicle left the road and hit a group of trees. It
is believed the crash happened around 11:30 Saturday night, but police say where
the vehicle came to rest was difficult to see from the road, so the crash was
not discovered until morning. A path had to be cut to gain access to the
vehicle due to the extent of damage and because of trees blocking access to
where it landed. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
