Medicare Card Scammers

The Department of Trade and Consumer Protection reports continued efforts by scammers to convince people to turn over their personal information. Michelle Reinen says elderly people are more likely to be targeted – especially with things like the distribution of Medicare cards. Reinen reminds everyone that you don’t have to do anything to have the cards sent to your home, because “it is an automatic process, you will get that card rolled out to you. You don’t have to verify a thing, pay a thing, there is nothing you have to fill out or confirm”.

If you receive a call asking for any kind personal information or banking information, you should hang up and report it to police – even if the person claims to be with a government agency.
