Menasha Police Officer Treated For Fentanyl Exposure

A Menasha police officer was treated with Narcan after being exposed to Fentanyl early Sunday morning. The officer had been at the scene of a drug overdose death that morning. He was diving down I-41 on his way to Oshkosh where the deceased man had been earlier. While driving he began to experience symptoms related to Fentanyl exposure. He was able to exit the highway and drive to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office for help. A deputy who heard his radio call followed him to the parking lot and administered two doses of Narcan to the officer reversing the effects. The officer was taken to a local hospital where he was released a few hours later. The officer has been with the Menasha Police Department for 2 ½ years.
