Mercury Union Votes Down Early Contract Offer

Members of the International Association of Machinists Local 1947 over the weekend voted down an early contract offer from Mercury Marine. The company and union were looking for an early agreement. The current contract was approved in 2014 and runs until August 23rd of 2021. The Union agreed to concessions in 2009 when Mercury was considering moving to Stillwater, Oklahoma. Incentives from the state, county and city kept the company in Fond du Lac. Since then Mercury’s workforce has grown to about 3,200 employees and the company has invested over $800 million in improvements at its Fond du Lac facilities.
