Milwaukee Archdiocese Reaches Settlement In Clergy Abuse Case

The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has reached a $21 million settlement with the victims of clergy abuse. Archbishop Jerome Listecki announced the settlement this afternoon. The settlement sets the stage to close Chapter 11 proceedings that began in January of 2011. The proposed settlement will be outlined in an amended plan of reorganization that will be filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court on August 24th. The plan will be reviewed by a judge during a November 9th hearing. Archbishop Listecki says if the plan is approved it will officially end the bankruptcy case.
