Miracle League Coming To FDL

The Fond du Lac City Council this week approved a memorandum of understanding with Brooke Industries to sponsor a Miracle League in the City. The Miracle League works with communities to create accessible baseball fields and supporting facilities so children with disabilities can enjoy the sport. Public Works Director Jordan Skiff says City staff has picked Playmore Park as the site for the effort. He says it is currently under utilized.  The improvements to the park would include the field itself, handicap accessible bathrooms and a playground, and a possible concession stand. Kim Trent, one of the organizers for the effort, says they would need to raise about $1 million through a capital campaign and improvements would be made in phases. She says the first phase would be the field and bathroom facilities, and phase two would be construction of the playground. No taxpayer money will be spent on construction of the field. The Miracle League would have an 8-week season.
