Missing FDL County Man Found Safe

A 93-year old Town of Byron man has been found safe, after walking away from a residence early Wednesday morning.

FDL County Sheriff’s Deputies were notified at 6:05 a.m. Wednesday (11/24/21) that the man had walked away from a home on Hickory Rd., and family members were concerned as the male suffered from age-related medical conditions and they were not able to locate him.

The caller was able to provide a clothing description, indicating that his father was wearing warm clothing when he left.

Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, the Oakfield Fire Department, and City of Fond du Lac Paramedics did respond to the residence to begin an area search for the missing man.  This search also was assisted by neighbors of the missing man familiar with the surrounding properties.  Several thermal imaging devices, along with a drone from the Sheriff’s Office, were deployed as well to assist the searchers.

The man was located shortly after 7:10 a.m., on an access lane to a neighboring property approximately one-half mile to the southwest of the residence.  He was uninjured and in good condition, but still medically checked by the City of Fond du Lac Paramedics on scene and later taken by his son for further medical evaluation.
