Missing FDL Mans Body Recovered In Lake Deneveu

The name of the victim has been released. He was 70-year-old Charles “Chuck” Westby of Fond du Lac. Westby was an American Family Insurance agent who worked out of an office on North Main Street.

The body of a missing 70-year-old Fond
du Lac man was recovered in about 22 feet of water in Lake Deneveu Sunday
afternoon. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig says the Department of
Natural Resources aided in their efforts by bringing in a truck equipped with
underwater sonar and camera equipment. The missing swimmer’s body was found
shortly before 4 p.m. The man was with friends Saturday night swimming near some
boats when he went under the water and did not resurface. The Sheriff’s Dive
Team was brought in and searched until midnight Saturday night suspending the
search at that time. Olig says divers resumed their search about 6 a.m. Sunday.
Eden first responders and Fond du Lac paramedics also responded Saturday night.
Olig says Town of Fond du Lac Fire Department aided divers Sunday by refilling
their oxygen tanks, The man’s name isn’t expected to be released until
Monday.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials
say the search for a 70-year-old man who went missing on Lake Deneveu Saturday
night continues. Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig says the man was swimming near some
boats and disappeared under the water. They got a call about the incident just
before 8:30 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies, their dive team, Eden First Responders and
Fond du Lac paramedics responded. A search was conducted unti midnight and
resumed at 6 a.m. this morning. The search is continuing.

will resume a search on Lake Deneveu today for a missing man. The man, who is
in his 70’s, jumped off a pontoon boat in the lake Saturday night and did not
resurface. Efforts to locate him with several divers were unsuccessful. The
