Moraine Park Will Offer Paralegal Program

Beginning this fall all three of Moraine Park Technical College’s main campuses will offer a two-year associate degree for paralegals. The college has previous offered the same type of program for legal assistants. Carrie Kutz is an instructor for Moraine Park’s legal programs. She tells us paralegals do a lot of the same things that an attorney does, but they don’t represent clients or offer advice. She says, “So what they spend most of their time doing is the supporting attorneys. That could be researching case law, preparing legal documents, interviewing clients. Pretty much every thing an attorney does except for representing the client.” The program will be offered through Moraine Park’s video conference classrooms. She says, “It is going to be offered on all three campuses so we have a campus in Fond du Lac, Beaver Dam and West Bend and we are going to do that through our video conference classroom. So the instructor will travel every week to a different campus and it will be video cast to all three campuses.” Students in the program will be offered different classes every eight weeks.
