More Information Released In Inmate Death

An inmate who passed away Friday night in the Fond du Lac County Jail has been identified.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt issued a statement, saying the inmate who passed away is 73-year-old Donald Forqurean of Fond du Lac.  He was in custody awaiting trial on charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless endangering safety, and operating a firearm while intoxicated, all stemming from a Fond du Lac Police Department investigation into a shooting that occurred in January of 2020.

The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office is the independent agency conducting the investigation in conjunction with the Fond du Lac County Medical Examiner’s Office and Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

On Friday, June 18, 2021, shortly before 11:00pm, Fond du Lac County Jail correctional staff found Forqurean unconscious and not breathing in his cell shortly before 11:00 p.m. Friday night (June 18, 2021). Staff immediately began life saving measures and a Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue ambulance was dispatched to the jail.

Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and the inmate was pronounced deceased.  Forqurean did suffer from pre-existing medical conditions and was housed in a medical cell, however no determination into the cause of death can be made until the Medical Examiner completes his investigation.
