More Taxpayers Using E File

State Department of Revenue Secretary Rick Chandler says the majority of people filing income taxes with the state use E-file. He says they encourage people to E-file and about 85 percent do. He says it is convenient and secure and the programs do the math for you. He says they do try to screen out fraudulent returns to prevent identity theft and have been quite successful by using an ID Quiz. Chandler says last year they blocked about $60 million worth of fraudulent refunds last year. This year about 3 million Wisconsin residents will be filing state income tax returns. The filing deadline is Tuesday, April 18th.
