More Than 2 1/2 Pounds Of Cocaine Found During Fond du Lac County Traffic Stop

A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy was requested to assist a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper on a traffic stop Monday evening on I-41 near Highway 23.

The trooper had information that the vehicle was transporting illegal drugs.

K9 Rip alerted to drugs when an open air sniff was performed and a search was conducted.

a 1.2 kilogram brick (over 2.6 pounds) of cocaine with an approximate street value of $100,000, along with approximately 3 grams of fentanyl and cash was located and seized.

Two occupants, both adult males from the Fox Valley area, were taken into custody for charges stemming from the traffic stop.

The driver had an extensive criminal history, including prior drug convictions, and is currently out on bond through Washington County for charges including OWI 5th/6th offense and possession of cocaine, among other criminal charges. The passenger has a criminal history that includes drug and firearm related charges, and had an active warrant for his arrest out of Winnebago County. Both were transported and remain in custody in the Fond du Lac County Jail.

Investigators from the Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group, commonly referred to as the MEG Unit, were called in to assist with the investigation, which remains ongoing.
