Motorcycle Crash Leaves One Person Seriously Injured

Excessive speed appears to be the cause of a Saturday afternoon motorcycle accident.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department was notified Saturday, May 21, 2022, at approximately 12:12 pm, of a single motorcycle crash on CTH GGG near Forest Lake Rd in the Town of Auburn.

Initial information indicated the motorcycle operator had significant injuries and was not conscious or alert.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, along with Campbellsport Fire, Campbellsport EMS, and Fond du Lac City Paramedics responded to the crash scene.

The motorcycle operator, a 54-year-old Cedar Grove man, was flown by medical helicopter to ThedaCare with serious injuries.

Initial investigation indicates that the motorcycle operator was travelling too fast approaching a curve in the roadway, and attempted to brake to negotiate the curve.

The operator failed to negotiate the curve and lost control, travelling across the roadway, striking a fence and several trees, before coming to rest down an embankment.

The operator was not wearing a helmet, was not familiar with the roadway and travelling in excess of the posted 35 mph speed limit.

The crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
