Motorcycle Crash Sends FDL Man To The Hospital

Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor behind a motorcycle crash Saturday evening.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies were notified Saturday, September 25th, 2021 at 9:45pm, of a motorcycle crash on Hwy 45 at Garnett Rd in the Township of Eden.  Numerous callers told the dispatch center that a motorcycle had struck a tree and the lone male operator had serious injuries.

Deputies with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene along with Eden First Responders, Eden Fire Department, and Campbellsport Ambulance.  Due to the serious nature of the crash, Flight for Life Emergency Transport System was also requested to the scene.

The investigation showed the lone motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Hwy 45 and failed to negotiate a curve near Garnett Rd.  The motorcycle slid into private property where it struck a tree, ejecting the operator from the cycle.  The 55-year-old Fond du Lac man was not wearing a helmet and sustained serious injuries.

Flight for Life treated the operator at the scene and transported him to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah.   The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was further assisted at the scene by the Wisconsin State Patrol and the City of Fond du Lac Paramedics.

The crash closed Hwy 45 between Cty UU and Birch Rd for approximately 1.5 hrs.
