Motorcycle Crash Takes The Life Of An Appleton-Area Man

A late Monday evening motorcycle crash near Rosendale took the life of an Appleton-area man. The crash occurred just before 11:30 p.m., on Highway 26 near Rose-Eld Rd., just outside of Rosendale. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies received a 911 call, reporting a motorcyclist that had struck a deer, causing injuries to the the driver of the motorcycle. Preliminary investigation showed the operator of the motorcycle was headed north on Hwy. 26, when he hit the deer that was in the road.

The motorcyclist was then struck by a semi truck, headed south on Hwy. 26. The 37-year old motorcyclist, James W. Field of Appleton, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only occupant of the motorcycle, and was not wearing a helmet. The 53-year old male semi-truck driver from Kimberly was not injured. The crash remains under investigation. Wisconsin State Patrol assisted at the scene.
