MPTC Works With Employers To Arrive At Solutions To Workforce Issues

The president of Moraine Park Technical College says President Trump talked about building the workforce during his visit to Waukesha County Technical College last week and that’s something colleges like Moraine Park strive to do. Bonnie Baerwald says there is a skilled workforce shortage. She says he really was advocating for more skilled trade worker initiatives looking at the apprenticeship styles and doing more with a two-year college education. She says it really gets at the heart of what Fond du Lac County and the entire district Moraine Park serves. Moraine Park Dean of Economic and Workforce Development Jo Ann Hall says they do offer worker training in the classroom. But they also get out in the community where they can meet with employers to come up with solutions for workforce issues. She says those solutions might be creating a brand new customized class, it might be connecting them to another resource in the community, it might be getting students into program classes Moraine Park already has. She sometimes it is about improving working relationships between employees.
