Mrs. Petri Visits Fondy Students

Mrs. Anne Neal Petri, Vice Regent for Wisconsin of The Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association and wife of Congressman Tom Petri, recently visited Theisen Middle School to share information about the Association and educate the students on America’s first president.

The Association is the first national historic preservation organization and, at 150 years old, is the oldest women’s patriotic society in the United States. In addition to educating people around the world about George Washington, the Association has been responsible for preserving and restoring George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate. Unlike most other historic sites, Mount Vernon relies entirely on private funds and takes no money from state or federal governments.

Mrs. Petri is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School and is the president of the American Council of Trustees and Alumni, an educational nonprofit dedicated to academic excellence and accountability in higher education. Shown here with Mrs. Petri are (L-R) Ted Eischeid, Theisen Science teacher, George Washington (Patrick Caulfield, Social Studies teacher) and Brad Nerat, Theisen Principal.
