Multiple Vehicles Involved In I-41 Crash

At least 5 vehicles were involved in a Saturday evening crash on I-41 in Fond du Lac County.

KFIZ’s Breaking News Editor, Doug Raflik, was on the scene Saturday(7/2/2022) on I-41 at Townline Rd., in the south bound lane. The accident occurred around 10:40 p.m.

A tanker truck initially rear-ended a vehicle, pushing that vehicle into the median, and leaving the tractor-trailer overturned.

Two other vehicles ended up with damage as a result of the first accident, with at least one of the vehicles damaged from hitting debris from the original accident. The driver of one of the vehicles involved in the secondary crashes did sustain minor injuries.

Then, around 12:10 a.m. Sunday (7/3/2022), while emergency crews were working the scene, an intoxicated driver traveling at a high rate of speed, struck the back of a Town of Eldorado fire truck.

The operator, a 49-year old male from the Brookfield area, was arrested on charges of operating while under the influence, 1st offense.

The highway was closed until 3:00 a.m. Sunday

City of Fond du Lac Hazardous Materials units were paged to the scene to assist in containing any diesel spilled as a result of the accident.

The incident remains under investigation.
