NACC All- Conference Women’s Lacrosse

MILWAUKEE – Freshmen Izzy Newton and Emma Heide of Marian University women’s lacrosse have each earned all-conference recognition.

Newton (Oregon, Wis.) becomes the first Sabre in program history to be named First Team All-Conference and the second student-athlete in program history to be named Freshman of the Year.  She paced the Sabre offense all season long and finished the season seventh in the NACC with 30 goals as part of a 32-point campaign.  A consistent scorer, Newton recorded multiple goals in 11 of 15 games and finished the season with at least two goals in the final five games.  Her season-high of four goals came against Illinois Tech where the Sabres earned a victory for the first time since 2019.  She also had both of her assists for the season come in that game as she recorded six points.  She also had at least five draw controls in three games with a season-best seven coming on the road at Cornell.  On the defensive, end she finished the season with 25 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers.  In a 4-1 win at Beloit, Newton had four ground balls to go with five caused turnovers, both were season-best marks.

Heide (Kenosha, Wis.) earns honorable mention recognition from the NACC after a strong first capaign as a Sabre.  She was a useful weapon for the Sabres on both ends of the field recording 14 points to go with 26 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers.  Heide had at least one point in 10 of the final 12 games of the season and posted a pair of multi-goal performances.  On the defensive end, she had multiple caused turnovers in six games with a season-best five coming in the victory over Illinois Tech.  She also had a season-high six ground balls in the victory over the Scarlet Hawks.  Then against Concordia Wisconsin, Heide grabbed a season-high eight draw controls and also had one of her multi-goal games.
