Narcan Saves Another Life In FDL

Through the first nine months of the year paramedics with Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue administered Narcan 69 times and 54 of those times were suspected drug overdoses. That doesn’t include a late night call Monday for a woman in a vehicle at East Johnson and North National Avenue suspected of overdosing on heroin. Assistant Fire Chief Todd Janquart says in that case they were successful in using Narcan to revive the woman. Janquart says they’ve been fortunate that they have been successful most of the time when they have gotten there early enough to intervene. He says one exception took place this summer when CPR had already started and the patient was likely dead before Narcan could be administered. Last year Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue administered Narcan a total of 35 times.
