Narcan Saving Lives In FDL

Twenty-three times last year the Fond du Lac Fire Department used Narcan to save the life of someone who had taken a life-threatening overdose of drugs. Overall paramedics used Narcan 88 times. Sometimes it was administered in a suspected overdose and other times in non-life threatening situations. Three-times a person died, twice from heroin. During Friday’s press conference Assistant Fire Chief Todd Janquart (pictured below) talked about their use of Narcan to save lives. He says there are many efforts in the community to address heroin and opiate use. He says their reason for publicizing how they used Narcan to save lives is to support and promote those efforts. The fire department saved twice as many lives with the use of Narcan in 2014 as they did in 2013.
