“National Night Out” in Fond du Lac Tonight

The annual National Night Out event
is being held at the Fond du Lac Fairgrounds Park tonight. The Fond du Lac
Police Department puts on the event as a way for kids to meet and connect with
members of local law enforcement. School Resource Officer Kristina Meilahn says
the event is not just about the kids – its about the community too. “It’s not
just a great interaction opportunity with kids in the community and law
enforcement, it’s a community event,” Meilahn said. “It’s bringing community together,
which is something we’re lacking – people coming out and meeting each other
person-to-person and getting to know their neighbors and their community.” In
addition to Fond du Lac Police, people can meet with the Fond du Lac County
Sheriff’s Department, North Fond du Lac Police Department, Wisconsin State
Patrol, Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue and the Wisconsin DNR. A number of
community groups will also be at the event, and there will be food along with games
and activities. National Night Out is from 4 until 7 pm this evening – and is free to attend.
