New City Of Fond du Lac Police Chief Could Be Named Today

Based on the agenda posted for today, we may know who the new City of Fond du Lac Chief of Police is by as early as tonight.

The City of Fond du Lac Police and Fire Commission is set to meet this afternoon, and once general matters are taken care of, they will adjourn to closed session.

The items on the agenda in closed session include Police Chief candidate discussion and what appears to be the selection of the new Chief. Some in the community have questioned the selection process, with one person noting that New Holstein just hired a new Police Chief, and examined more than 24 candidates, and along with a panel of outside law enforcement agencies, interviewed the final three candidates.

Fond du Lac residents had a chance to listen to the two candidates, Interim Chief Aaron Goldstein and Kevin Warych who is operations commander for the Green Bay Police Department, during a question and answer period last week. Residents could also offer input, but had to have their comments turned in by August 30.

On the original agenda posted prior to Thursday morning, was an agenda item listed as “Police Disciplinary Action”. A quick scan of the agenda Thursday morning shows that item has been removed from the final online agenda. There has been no indication as to what or with whom that matter may have pertained.
