New Crops And Soils Agent For Dodge And FDL Counties

There’s a new crops and soils agent for Fond du Lac County. Dr. Loretta Ortiz-Ribbing will be splitting her time with Dodge County as well. She replaces Mike Rankin who spent 27 years as the UW Extension Service Crops and Soils agent for Fond du Lac County. Dr. Ortiz-Ribbing most recently worked for the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and also was a professor at the UW-River Falls. She’s originally from Illinois. She says budget cuts affected her job in Illinois as an extension specialist. She hopes to get to know the people the extension service serves well. She says she will meet some people during the Forage Council’s Twilight Meeting in Mayville on June 22nd. She says her family is spread out at the moment as she looks for a place to live. Her husband is still in River Falls and she has a daughter living in Madison. She says part of the incentive of taking the job was to be closer to family. Her new job as Crops and Soils agent began June 1st.
