New K9 Unit to be Formally Introduced

The Fond du Lac Police Department is introducing the newest member of the K-9 Unit Wednesday. At 2:00pm this afternoon, the German Shepherd named Sam will be formally introduced at the police department. Sam and his partner, Officer Ben Hardgrove, attended an intensive five week training program to prepare for their duties. Sam is a certified dual purpose patrol and narcotics detection police dog – who is trained to detect illegal drugs and track down lost people, criminals, and defend his handler. The new pair began their patrol of the city on May 30^th.
