New Oakfield Resource Officer

There is a new school resource officer in the Oakfield School District.
Deputy Derek Rehfeldt is taking on the role. After spending a few years in
different law enforcement positions, Rehfeldt says serving in the schools is a
unique experience because “you wear many hats as a school resource officer and it’s really busy and
that’s what I like about it. Just the variety of being able to be a role model
for the kids, being able to go to their school events, interviewing kids,
talking to them, counseling them…” 

Rehfeldt adds that it’s important to keep an open line of
communication with students, whether it’s to just keep up with them, or to prevent
bullying or serious acts of violence.
