New proposed budget cuts Great Lakes funding by 90%

Funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative could see a reduction by 90 percent if the budget President Trumps has proposed for 2020 is approved. The president includes just 30 million dollars for the work to remove toxic pollution, fight invasive species and deal with other long-standing environmental problems.  The program has been receiving 300-million dollars-a-year since it was started in 2010.  Congress rejected this reduction when the president proposed it last year.
