Newest Council Members Sworn In Tuesday Night

The trio campaigned together on one common theme, and it proved to be a winning strategy earlier this month as all three were elected to the Fond du Lac City Council. Now, those three council members will be sworn into office Tuesday afternoon at an organizational meeting.

Tiffany Brault, Keith Heisler and Patrick Mullen combined their efforts on one key campaign topic, that being the Alternative Master Plan at Lakeside Park. All three candidates agreed that the future of the park should be put to referendum. The future of the park could become either very clear or very cloudy once the newly-elected become active Council members, as it’s likely they will align with the views expressed by current council member Kay Miller, who is also the current Vice President.

The posted agenda for Tuesday night includes the election of Officers, including a new Council President and Vice President. Miller holds seniority on the council, but has often been on an island when it comes to any Lakeside Park discussion and votes. With the additions of the new council members, it would appear Miller would now be in the majority. Miller has said she’s not opposed to the project but has objected to the process and how it has played out.

Also of note is an item on the agenda, calling for a Resolution Adopting Supplemental Meeting Rules for City Council, which will be presented by City Manager Joe Moore.

The organizational meeting is set for 5:00 p.m in Meeting Room A at the City-County Government Center.
