NFDL Board Considers Future Memory Stone For Veterans Memorial

The North Fond du Lac Village Board recently discussed whether another memory stone should be purchased for the Veterans Memorial. Village Administrator Chuck Hornung says the current memory stone is full of names. He says it holds 250 names and they have about 100 more names, some of which still have to be verified for inclusion. He says they have to consider how to pay for the stone because they pretty well exhausted the funds for construction of the memorial and the first memory stone. He says it’s not cheap for the stone and to engrave the names on it. Hornung says they talked about more fundraising efforts and having the Village kick in. He says it costs about $12,000 for a stone and another $20 for each name engraved on it. He says first they have to find out if there might be a possible conflict of interest because three board members also serve on the committee for the memorial. He says they are checking with the league of municipalities.
