NFDL Fire Chief Taken Into Custody On Theft Allegations

North Fond du Lac’s new fire chief and EMS director was arrested Wednesday on a warrant from Pennsylvania for allegedly stealing from an elderly aunt. Village Police picked up Richard Zmuda  Wednesday and took him to the Fond du Lac County Jail where he’s being held. Zmuda came to North Fond du Lac from Bradford, Pennsylvania last month where he was on the fire department for 15 years. A criminal complaint was filed in Pennsylvania Wednesday. It alleges he deceived an elderly aunt into believing he was investing money from an insurance policy for her and took nearly $48,000 of it. North Fond du Lac officials are still learning details about his arrest and the complaint against him.
