NFDL School District Purchases Presentation School From Holy Family

Presentation School has changed hands from Holy Family Catholic
Community to the School District of North Fond du Lac. Come this fall, the building will be the new home to the School District of North Fond du Lac’s charter school, The Treffert Way for the Exceptional Mind.

Built in 1929, Presentation School, 706 Minnesota Ave., has had a long history in the North Fond du Lac area. For many years, it educated students before becoming the administrative offices of FACES, and the center of religious education for elementary-age children of
Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish and high school-age children of Presentation and Our Risen Savior parishes.

In recent years, it became home to Fond du Lac Studio of Music. Following the merger of Holy Family Catholic Community with Our Risen Savior and Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary parishes in July 2020, Holy Family took ownership of the Presentation School property and, after much consideration and discussion, made the
difficult decision to list the school for sale this past January.

“With the repairs needed, we could not see how our parish would be able to use and maintain the school, but we hoped that if we listed it for sale, someone in the community would be able to breathe new life into it and give it new purpose,” Holy Family Catholic Community
Pastor Fr. Ryan Pruess said. “When we learned the School District of North Fond du Lac was interested in purchasing it, we were thrilled.”

The School District of North Fond du Lac plans to renovate areas in the newer school and, as Holy Family Parish also planned to do, eliminate the three story-older building, which has many hazardous materials and is no longer at a point of renovation, School District of North Fond du Lac Superintendent Aaron Sadoff said.

Slated renovations include a new roof and improved south parking lot among others. The sale closed in April, and beyond that date, Sadoff said that the district looks forward to years of future partnership with Holy Family.

“The School District is excited to make the Presentation school building part of our District. This building has been the home to great learning and memories for many community members throughout the years. Working with the Holy Family Parish, we are excited to continue the spirit of education through the rooms and halls of this great building,” Sadoff said. ” The District is excited to welcome our charter school, The Treffert Way for the Exceptional Mind to their new, permanent home starting this fall!”
