NFDL School District Remembers Dr. Treffert

The Fond du Lac community and the world continue to mourn the loss of Dr. Darold Treffert – an internationally respected researcher in autism, hyperlexia, savant syndrome and related conditions – after his unexpected passing on December 14th.

One of the many places where his legacy is being remembered is the School District of North Fond du Lac, where Agnesian/SSM Health’s Treffert Center and the district partnered to create the Treffert Way for the Exceptional Mind charter school – focused on diverse learners in Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. Superintendent Aaron Sadoff tells KFIZ News that while Dr. Treffert is gone – his legacy lives on.

“His legacy, who he is, the impact and the touch that he has had on so many people across ths great world has been amazing. He is definitely lost but I know the people at the Treffert Way/The Treffert Center, his family, his colleagues, they will continue his work and he’s going to be very proud looking down at how his work is going to lead to even more great things.”

Private funeral services were held for Dr. Treffert, with a public celebration of life being planned for a later date. He was 87 years old.
