No Charges Filed Against Oshkosh School Board

There will be no charges filed against the Oshkosh School Board. That announcement came Friday morning.

The Winnebago County DA’s office will not pursue charges that claimed the board violated open meetings law.

The potential charges stemmed from an August 25 meeting, where opponents of the school face mask policy and people choosing not to wear face coverings, disrupted the meeting.

At the time, board members elected to postpone the meeting and then conducted online meetings moving forward.

The original complaint was filed by the Wisconsin Transparency Project and alleged the discussions that occurred in the superintendent’s office constituted an improper closed session and resulted in a violation of state law.

Deputy District Attorney Eric Sparr said there would be no further action taken by his office.
