No Injuries After Bullet Hits Home in Town of Springvale

No one was injured when a stray bullet shot by a hunter went through the wall of a home in the Town of Springvale Friday morning.

According to a press release, Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Wisconsin DNR were called to the scene on Pommering Road around 8:20 in the morning for a report that a bullet had hit someone’s house.

The homeowner told deputies that a group was hunting on state-owned public land that borders the property, when a gunshot was heard, followed a noise of something hitting the house and some drywall debris coming from the wall. An inspection found that a bullet had hit the outside of the house, travelled through the siding, into the wall and came out of the drywall into the home.

Authorities made contact with the hunting group nearby, with one of the hunters telling deputies he had fired his gun at a deer in the direction of the home on the bordering property. The hunter explained he had missed the deer, but did not think he would be in danger of hitting the home due to the distance and angle.

The incident remains under investigation by officials with the Sheriff’s Office and the DNR.
