No Plans for Walker to Visit Prisons

Governor Scott Walker has yet to visit a Wisconsin prison and has no plans to do so if re-elected, saying “there’s no value” in it. He made the comments as he criticized Democratic gubernatorial candidates who suggest reducing the state prison population by releasing some inmates early. Walker calls the ideas “dangerous” and wants to keep convicts “in for their entire sentence.” Walker says he has spoken to offenders who took part ion employment training programs, and claims that is a better option to reform the correctional system than releasing offenders early.
