No Sirens Sounded Today During Severe Weather Awareness Week

Severe Weather Awareness Week in Wisconsin continues today, and while Thursday of this awareness week usually means that its time for the annual “Statewide Tornado Drill”, this year’s drill is going to be a bit different in nature.

Bobbi Hicken, Fond du Lac County director of Communications and Emergency Management tells KFIZ News that the National Weather Service will not be issuing test Tornado Watches or Warnings this year, and the traditional alerts you hear on radio, television or on a weather radio will not be sent out.

Despite those changes, Hicken says it’s still important to take a moment today and practice your safety plan both at work and at home.

Hicken adds that the tornado sirens will not be sounded in Fond du Lac County today as they normally are during the statewide tornado drill.
