No Working Smoke Detectors in FDL Duplex Fire

Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue responded to a home along West Second Street around 7:10am Wednesday morning for a report of smoke coming from a duplex. Fire crews spotted smoke coming from a first floor window of the two-story wood frame building. Firefighters forced entry and quickly contained the fire to an area on the floor of the kitchen. The home sustained minor damage, and is still habitable. The residents were home at the time, but no injuries were reported. There were no smoke alarms sounding when crews arrived on scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
