Numbers Show 25 New COVID-19 Cases In County

A word of caution is being issued by Fond du Lac County Health Officer Kim Mueller, as she released the updated COVID-19 numbers for the county. Including Monday, there are now 182 confirmed cases of coronavirus, which is an increase of 25 from Friday. Mueller says many of the new cases come from specific outbreaks associated with recent gatherings, which are being investigated and include contact tracing and include household and social contacts.

The new numbers now show 70 active cases, 9 people hospitalized due to coronavirus, 108 recovered cases, and now 4,009 negative tests processed.

The State of Wisconsin DHS website is also listing Fond du Lac with 5 deaths, but Mueller says that is incorrect.

Mueller pointed out that many of the new outbreaks were from individuals that attended recent parties or funeral gatherings. Another area of concern is the fact that many people associate their current health condition with seasonal allergies, when in fact they very well may be walking around with the coronavirus. Mueller says its critical for the long term success of getting on top of COVID-19, everyone takes the extra precautions that have been spelled out by local health officials, the State DHS and the CDC.
